they're the worst vet in town and they will go out of their way to encourage you to kill your pet through euthanasia no matter what the problem is with your pet. Mine had pneumonia and the overnight doctor that they connected me to initially tried to refuse me service because I had had a bad experience there before 20 years ago. After I called back several of the people I talk to basically were just like "well it's all about quality of life" and tried to get it me to kill my cat. I guess it's easier to make money for doing nothing than it is to do something. Overall they're the worst vet I've ever seen. Yesterday they, while I was there, admitted that they didn't do anything to my cat or give him any treatment for one solid day. No x-rays, no food, no water. They actually told me to bring in food to see if he would eat because they didn't know if he had eaten anything since I brought him in. They seemingly ignore the duty of care clause in the Hippocratic oath which states that once they agree to actually perform a procedure they have to finish with that procedure unless you refuse to pay which we did not. They did however seemingly also ignore the law in Tennessee that says that you can't estimate something and then re-estimate it and not inform the people who are being forced to pay it prior to the reestimation of price. They raised our price roughly $1,000 and then tried to threaten retribution by not letting us come back for our checkups that are legally mandated by that oath. Basically their office manager is one of the worst people I've ever had the misfortune of having to deal with. She also claimed that she had dealt with me at flat veterinary clinic and I've never seen this woman in my life until today, so I'm not really sure what she's talking about. I've never in my life had a bad experience with or at Flatt veterinary clinic so she must be very very confused much like she was earlier today clearly. Avoid this horrid place at all of costs, and the cost will probably change by about a third higher. Had the only good doctor there not noticed that they hadn't even bothered to give him an x-ray yesterday and that he was looking at the same x-ray he did on Tuesday we would have never known they didn't do an x-ray on Wednesday at all because I'm going to suspect that the doctor no longer felt like he was the doctor in charge of my cat because I told him I preferred the other doctor because he had prior knowledge of his condition. That doctor was out of town that day having an appointment of his own so the main doctor just apparently didn't care but I have no way of knowing what happened because they really basically only tell you anything once a day and don't really care to try any harder than that. On the days that my cats regular doctor was there my cat looked and acted 100% better than he did on the day that my cat was not taken care of by the same doctor. He also did not seem like he felt as good the next day and my doctor was very confused by this, as am I. Now they come on and try to passive aggressively act like it is my fault they (the one Dr. and some people in the back seemed to not do their job while his normal Dr was out of town). They are making all Flatt customers pay the fees of Copeland now.... and the remodel just keeps going on. Your rude office manager had really no choice but to remove the $700, as that was the violation of the state estimate law. To raise the price that much you would have had to have written a new estimate and we would have both had to sign it. You violated standards and practices of a vets office in almost every way. Don't respond to people like it is outrageous for you to follow the law and your oath. I don't exceptional expectations, I expect you to do your jobs, not make fun of us while we are there and charge the cost we are told, or don't blame us for your slip up - which it was. You make the estimates, not me. So attentive his nose was stopped up to point of his panting and mouth breathing again. He died tonight. Every pet I have ever taken their dies shortly after

After my boyfriend and I relocated to Clarkrange from Cookeville, we spoke about finding a cheaper vet who was closer to home for our 9 cats. Our cat Loki started peeing blood. After a couple of months and me already clearing this up a couple of times, I called a vet that was recommended by a coworker. They told me that the doctor was not in that day and would not be in until Monday of the following week and to bring a urine sample. I did as they asked and could not get much of a sample from him, but brought what I could muster that morning. When I arrived, they pushed me and Loki off to the side and took care of all their regulars first. When they finally got around to me, they took the sample and my paperwork that they had me fill out and told me that the sample may not be enough and that I needed to go out to my car and wait and they will be with me in about 2 hours and if the sample wasn't enough, I would have to go back home and come back when I had more. I went out to my car with Loki and called Copeland. They told me to bring Loki in immediately. Even though it took me an hour to get there from where I was at, they had a room waiting for him. Turned out our baby had stones in his bladder and needed emergency surgery and a strict diet. Loki is doing well now and happy that he is better. Copeland may be a little on the expensive side, but after this experience, we will never try another vet again. Trust me, they are worth the money.

We live in Crossville but came to Copeland on a Saturday when our senior dog’s health failed and he needed to be euthanized. Neither of the emergency vets in Crossville would see him, but Copeland listened to my concerns and told us to immediately head over. All the staff were so kind and helpful during a very difficult time. They were also dealing with several emergencies but provided service very quickly and compassionately.

I wrote this review long ago and this business had the nerve to hide my review. I know this because I could see it in my review section but when I was signed out of my google account and looked for my review it wasn't there. So apparently you have to keep an eye on this business to make sure they don't hide/delete your review. If you have any type of emergency do NOT, I REPEAT, do NOT send your pet here. The after hours call center they use is beyond dreadful. After hours agent literally had the nerve to argue with me and then hang up on me because I was trying desperately to get to my freaking vet! I ended up wasting about 5 min. trying to get through to the vet on call that night. What was worse is that when I had to call back, because the agent hung up on me, I ended up getting the same awful person! That type of person should NOT be working in that call center because they don't understand what it's like to see your dog sick, not able to move on the floor. That wasted time on the phone, plus having to get my dog to the vet was beyond frustrating! Oh and guess what?! My dog fully passed out as soon as I got to the vet and as soon as the vet tech came out. It makes me wonder if I hadn't had to spend that time dealing with that agent if I it could've saved her. I'll never know because that agent took that from me. Also, great job not letting me have a choice as to whether or not I wanted to have her cremated. When you have a customer that's distraught because their dog just died, just maybe you should be proactive in offering that. I would've loved to have had her ashes with me but you took that away from me. After that happened, I vowed I will never ever again use your services. Oh and the only thing you did for my dog when I first brought her to you all, after having adopted her from the shelter, was give her iv fluid and then sent her home with me saying that everything was going to be ok. She was skin and bones because the lady at the shelter did NOTHING! I got her from the shelter in Sparta. She had such a sweet personality but she was skin and bones because the owner kept her out in the blazing heat and had healthier dogs in the sheltered area where they had huge fans going. I couldn't believe the dog lasted as long as it did despite the shelter owner's negligence. You didn't even bother giving me suggestions on what I could do to help her! That's your job isn't it?! Aren't you supposed to educate your customers on how to help their pets recuperate?! How do you all sleep at night?! It is my opinion that you all don't care. You don't care what we have to go through to get to you all in an emergency. That time wasted with the agent, then driving to your vet, could've saved my dog's life. I'll never know now. One more thing. In another visit, I had another dog that I brought in and your doctor, which I remember his name but will not name here, straddled my young dog because she was being a normal, hyper, young dog and scolded her as well, all because he couldn't get her to stay still! If his ego wasn't in the way, he could've asked me for help to distract her and I would've been absolutely willing to help! I didn't say anything because I didn't know I could but now I'm speaking up about that so others know. There are some things in life you will NEVER forget! Anyone reading reviews here for this business please go else where. What's worse is that they made a response to someone else's review basically stating that they were short staffed and that's why their pet didn't get the necessary attention needed and their case was urgent as well! I just can not with this vet. They've changed over the years and not for the better it seems.

These guys are awesome! They are actually an animal hospital, but Dixie comes here for everything! We had her here Monday because her ear was hurting and had been over the weekend. We did have a 3 hour wait, but it was well worth it. After all, it's a hospital, we should expect a little wait. Dr. Baker (who is amazing!) did the culture test on her ears (turns out she had a yeast infection in both ears!) and gave her antibiotics. The total bill was only $206 (medicine included), and our girl is already feeling better . Money well spent, I'd say. My many thanks to everyone at Copeland's veterinary hospital! You guys are the best! I completely understand that people have bad experiences everywhere occasionally. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. When I was there Monday, I had the heart melting experience of watching Dr. Baker escort an older lady to her car, by letting her hold onto his arm. He then helped her into her vehicle. This is something I've never seen, especially since they were super busy, and it was the doctor himself who helped this lady. You just don't see stuff like this anymore. Thank you guys, for being friends, as well as professionals.

Took my cat in for emergency surgery because I had no other options at the time. The doctor was nice not great and staff was kind but not flexible in anyway. While there he got HORRIBLE flees and brought them back home with him. The rooms are dirty and smell awful the establishment is unorganized as a vet but better as an emergency hospital. I will not be taking my pets back and am extremely upset with the services and pricing of this office.

I sent my cat there to be neutered by Dr. Baker. I dropped my cat off at 8:00 am & by the time I checked him in it was close to 8:30. Dr. Baker called less than an hour later to let us know he was done with surgery. Dr. Baker was insisting that he needed additional bloodwork. I refused the bloodwork and when I went to pick him up he tried again to get me to have bloodwork and when I refused he was extremely rude. They handed my cat carrier back to me and my cat was literally traumatized and his backend was covered in blood. 5 days later my cat is still acting traumatized. This post is not a reflection on all of Copelands but simply about Dr. Baker. I will never go back. If you want exceptional vetinary services/office personnel go to Flatts. They are wonderful and go about and beyond!

Where to start? We took our cat in Jan 4th to be seen for a UTI and possible FLUTD with a urinary blockage. We were fully aware it could have been serious, had that been the case. We were directed to Copeland by our vet since they could not see us till the next morning. We hesitated but felt it would be a good idea to have him diagnosed. Once at Copeland, and without any testing we were told he had a blockage and had to be hospitalized immediately. Then we were handed a potential bill for almost 3k for up to three nights of treatments and they wanted to take our cat at that moment to place a catheter. We said "No, we wish to take him to our vet the next morning since we already have an appointment lined up". The vet got irritated with our decision and argumentative because we did not agree with his medical decision and in a snarky heated tone informed us that if we didn't let him take our cat now for immediate treatment and days of observation, he would die. Our cat was still able to pass some urine and was not showing any signs of discomfort, so we wanted to go and talk to our vet who we trusted and felt comfortable with the next morning. Mind you, our cat was not showing any signs of distress just very frequent urination (small amounts). I don't even want to go into the full embarrassing details of the rest of the visit but it was very emotional, caused much undo duress... it was unprofessional, and completely uncalled for on the part of the vet. He made it clear that he wished for us never to return to that office (trust me the feeling is mutual!). The office manager did help to defuse the situation but she also suggested in her consoling that they could offer to euthanize our cat for us since the outcome looked grim from in their viewpoint. We just wanted them to do any type of testing in order to diagnose what the real issue was and then offer a treatment. It felt like this was all about money not about the animal itself... The next morning we took our cat to our normal vet, who we have used for many years and and fully trust with all of our animals. No our cat did not die over night like we were told in a very dramatic manor. No he did not have any blockage so he did not require hospitalization. He did have a UTI as we suspected.. All he needed was some very affordable antibiotics and a prescription diet (which BTW we had asked Copeland's for and was told it would not work) Please take this as a warning if you are searching for a new Vet in Cookeville.
